To turn a decimal into a fraction, write its digits over 10, 100 or 1,000 (one zero per decimal place), then divide the top and bottom by their greatest common factor. 0.375 is 375/1000; both divide by 125, so it is 3/8, which is 37.5%.

How do I simplify the fraction?

Divide the top and bottom by their greatest common factor. 375/1000: both divide by 125, giving 3/8.

Why does 1/3 never end as a decimal?

A fraction in lowest terms ends only when its bottom number has no prime factors other than 2 and 5. Three is neither, so 1/3 = 0.333… repeats forever.

How do I turn a fraction into a percent?

Divide the top by the bottom and multiply by 100. 3/5 = 0.6 = 60%.

What is 0.125 as a fraction?
